Dr. Kuo graduated from Taipei Medical University in 1985, and started to join Department of Surgery, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH), and completed neurosurgical training program in 1992. Dr. Kuo was the President of Taiwan Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, and now serves as the Secretary of Asian-Australasian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Chair of Ways and Means Committee of International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Chairman of Pediatric Neurosurgery Committee of WFNS, and is the standing faculty of Asian-Australasian Advanced Course in Paediatric Neurosurgery.
Dr. Kuo is now the Clinical Professor of the Department of Surgery, NTUH and Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, Department of Surgery, National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital. She was the awardee of “Medical Contribution Award” of Raising Children Medical Foundation in 2019 and “National Taiwan University Outstanding Teaching Award” in 2019. She was also the recipient of “The Teaching Award for Excellence in Medical Education” of NTUH in 2011, 2015, and 2019, respectively.
Dr. Kuo likes to fix things, and likes something perfect but real. Dr. Kuo has been deeply involved in the development of the treatment strategies of pediatric neurosurgical diseases aiming at foreseeing the physiological needs of sick children and using relatively minimally invasive way to manage the patients and get a good long-term outcome. Her research and publications focus on solving the clinical problem in pediatric neurosurgery. Her motto is, “Education is the base of medicine. Development of simple and rational treatment strategies and to promote them is the well-being of the pediatric patients.”
